’We’re on this Earth to help one another, aren’t we?’
That’s a rough translation of a song title from the hit TV comedy series ’t Schaep met de 5 pooten.* The Elisabeth Strouven Foundation has chosen it as the theme for the 2019 Stadsgoud competition because this year, we’re looking to reward brilliant ideas for community-building. We invite you and everyone in Maastricht to get your brains into gear and think hard about the following question:
How can we get all of Maastricht’s people involved in their neighbourhood?
If you come up with a great idea, contact us through this website. We’ll be accepting submissions between 7 January and 7 March 2019.
We’ll then select the best ideas – our finalists.
An independent jury will choose the winners on Sunday 14 April.
The Elisabeth Strouven Foundation is once again making a total of € 100,000 available to the winners.
So think hard and get your brain into top gear! Good luck!

The original series, broadcast in 1969, was set in a pub in a working class neighbourhood of Amsterdam. The pub’s name was ‘t Schaep met de 5 Pooten, an expression meaning ‘Looking for the Impossible’. Piet Römer, Adèle Bloemendaal and Leen Jongewaard were the stars of the show. A sequel was made in 2006 starring Pierre Bokma, Marc-Marie Huijbregts and Loes Luca.
